Dematic bouwt met Aspire eerste geautomatiseerde productielocatie voor insecteneiwitten

Nieuwe eiwitverwerkingsfaciliteit zal Vertical Farm huisvesten om de wereldwijde voedselduurzaamheid te ondersteunen
ATLANTA — Dematic gaat samen met Aspire 's werelds eerste volledig geautomatiseerde productielocatie voor insecteneiwitten bouwen. Dit innovatieproject voor de voedingsindustrie, waarvan de oplevering staat gepland in het eerste kwartaal van 2022, wordt uitgerust met een Dematic Automated Storage & Retrieval System (AS/RS). Het is de eerste keer dat IIoT-sensoren, AS/RS en AI worden ingezet voor verticale landbouw met levende organismen in een geklimatiseerde ruimte.
Dematic gaat een volledig geautomatiseerd hoge capaciteit opslagsysteem met 11 verdiepingen implementeren. Dit systeem gebruikt kratten om krekels te kweken en te rijpen, voorafgaand aan de verwerking voor consumptie door huisdieren en mensen. In nauwe samenwerking met andere technologieleveranciers worden de kratten tevens bewaakt om de voedselkwaliteit te garanderen.
Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) apparaten en sensoren verstrekken straks voortdurend data aan deep-learning Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologie om de omstandigheden voor rijping, kweek en incubatie te optimaliseren.
Dematic’s AS/RS-technologie gaat de behoefte aan menselijke interactie in het productieproces tot een minimum beperken, toezicht houden op de nauwkeurigheid van elke krat en de ruimte optimaal benutten om het productieproces te maximaliseren. Het systeem integreert ook andere technologieën om de temperatuur en vochtigheid in elke krat te regelen. De 96.000 kratten kunnen genoeg krekels bevatten om jaarlijks 20.000 ton krekeleiwit en -afval (meststof en bodemsupplement) te produceren.
Het bedrijf, dat voor het eerst werd bekroond met de Hult-prijs voor innovatie in voedselzekerheid, krijgt aanzienlijke steun van private equity en betrokken overheden. De Aspire Food Group-faciliteit die nu wordt gebouwd in London, Ontario, is het grootste project gefinancierd door NGen, Canada's Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster. NGen brengt de volgende generatie productietechnieken en automatisering samen om digitale transformatie in Canada te stimuleren.
