High Efficiency Picking System

High volume products may need to be buffered in pallet quantities, otherwise products can be loaded into the miniload system for storage prior to picking. This allows picking area replenishment to be responsive and fast.

Fast moving SKUs are slotted and replenished here automatically from the miniload system. Order cartons or totes are released to the system, where operators work on a picker-to-goods principle to perform the picking.

Medium and slow moving products have no pick face allocated, but are picked dynamically. The pick station is ergonomic and very efficient. Products are sequenced to the pickers to meet the order cartons as required.

Picked cartons and totes are routed to a consolidation buffer. When a dispatch unit is ready, the cartons and totes will be released and sequenced to the palletizing station.

The DC Director WMS module is an inherent part of the High Efficiency Picking System.

Its functions include:

• Receiving and managing orders
• Slotting and replenishing fast movers products
• Releasing and managing order cartons in the system
• Managing the dynamic retrieval of medium and slow movers
• Allocating operators efficiently
• Finishing shipping cartons, labeling, consolidation, and palletizing
