Route Sequenced Distribution

Loading trucks efficiently in reverse drop sequence

 Route Distribution System

Delivering cased or crated products direct to small stores, hotels, restaurants, gas stations and similar creates particular challenges for a distribution center. Vehicles may need to stop at premises with no offloading facilities, perhaps on busy roads, and unload quickly and safely.

A particular requirement is the loading of cases onto the truck in reverse drop sequence. Dematic has developed solutions to allow sequenced yet efficient loose loading of trucks or building of dispatch pallets. This allows quick the offloading of vehicles at multiple drops or destinations, with the certainty of correct order fulfillment and simpler handling of heavy products.

Manual Pick Modules

 Manual Pick Modules

Manual pick to belt modules can be the basis of a route distribution system. They are a quick and cost effective solution for getting access to all products in batches.

Automated Pick Modules

Picking can be automated in several ways. This photo shows a robot-based solution picking cases onto a belt. In the beverage industry cases are particularly heavy, and so automated systems for handling cases or crates are becoming increasingly popular.

Automated Buffering and Sequencing

 Automated buffering and sequencing

Picked cartons and crates need to be sequenced before shipping. This may be done on conveyor lanes, or using a Dematic Multishuttle based sequencer.

Automated Palletizing

 Automated palletising

Palletizing may be manual or automated. This photo shows the AMCAP system for automated mixed case palletizing.

Products can be sequenced into the back of a truck in reverse drop sequence. This is made most efficient using extendable boom conveyors.
