From incoming goods reporting, through customer orders, delivery notes and consignments, around 100 sets of transaction data per hour are processed in the high-bay warehouse at the Champignon cheese dairy. What with the manually and automatically served storage locations, customer-defined storage and retrieval strategies, order-picking operations and logistics control, the warehouse management system (WMS) has all processes under control. About 500 order-picking jobs for 250 customers are handled every week by the system.
During the first few weeks after the IT system was put in place and started up, there was a marked improvement in the delivery of goods, and punctuality of delivery was also improved. After the successful system startup at Champignon cheese, the Hofmeister Group are now planning other system applications at other locations.
