The goal of the Champignon cheese factory in Lauben/Allgäu (Germany) was to simplify the ever more complex warehouse processes and introduce seamless orders and product tracking – all the way from incoming goods till dispatch of finished products. To achieve these aims, the company decided on an optimized warehouse management and control system for its existing high-rise warehouse. The main feature of this system is its decentrally implemented food & beverage software with grid system that knows the location of every product – from the time it arrives to the time it leaves the factory.

In combination with the MFC Material Flow Software, the management system communicates with Champignon's existing SAP host via a certified standard interface (Business Integration Manager, or BIM). Only six months after implementing the Dematic IT system, the company registered major quality increases in product deliveries and thus, improved adherence to deadlines. As a result, the Hofmeister-Champignon corporate group, to which the Champignon cheese factory in Lauben belongs, is planning to furnish other sites with the same system.
