Dematic applies for patent for Plug & Convey procedures
The Transport Interface Management (TIM) is Dematic's answer for a Plug & Play concept for connecting device controls to IT. TIM is primarily suited for all SPS-based systems, e.g. for conveyor, AS/RS, robots, palleters, sorters, AGV, etc. In addition to its already established and standardized communication protocols, Dematic has now applied for a patent for Best Practices as a procedure. The corresponding Application Guide is currently available for AS/RS and conveyor technology.
These standardized procedures hold major advantages for equipment planners and operators: TIM-compatible subsystems always behave in known, precisely defined manners and are thus exchangeable. When TIM is used, companies can be sure that Best Practices have been applied. These apply both to normal operation as well as treatment of all conceivable errors.
This results in additional advantages: planning and implementation times can be reduced and start-up simplified. The use of Best Practices ensures high performance and availability of equipment. TIM is not only suitable for completely new facilities, but is also the ideal integration platform for modernizing old ones. Dematic has successfully deployed TIM in numerous customer projects.
