Voice replaces Scanner

Dematic’s Pick-by-Voice solution renders manual scanners and order-picking lists obsolete. The individual process steps are communicated to the stockroom employee by voice instruction through headphones. These instructions convey precise information about the stock location, item and quantity.

The picker receives the specific information for each process step exactly when needed, and thus no longer has to process too much data at once.

Check-digits at all storage locations ensure that the correct items are picked. This is an easy way to maintain high picking accuracy, minimizing the chance that the wrong items will be retrieved.

In addition, Pick-by-Voice simplifies the process itself: Retrieval of the stock item and verification occur simultaneously. At a point when conventional methods would still require an entry into the pick list or the data terminal, the operator using Pick-by-Voice is already en route to the next stock location.
