Reusable transport items (RTI) are used in intra logistic processes like production, production logistics, internal transport, storage and circulating processes as well for standardized exchange of goods among participants of a value chain.

Due to increasing co operations in supply chains as well as tightened regulations concerning obligations to take back disposable transport packaging the use of RTI increases steadily. RTI are trays (cartons, small unit loads, kegs, bottles etc.) or load units (pallets, cage boxes etc.).

In order to achieve a preferably low tie-up of capital the number of RTI should be as low as possible. At the same time the risk of sales losses due to low assets of RTI has to be avoided.
