Greater Process Safety through use of RFID in Production

Another application of RFID is the tracing and management of top-grade production materials.

The advantage of RFID tags is that they can be attached to objects better than barcodes, e.g. after being shrink-packaged into plastic containers.

Prohibited process steps, such as the filling of a container which has not yet been cleaned, can be automatically barred in order to achieve better fail-safe handling and higher process safety.   

• RFID-Tags can be better protected against harsh environment condition than bar codes  
• RFID-Tags can go through cleaning processes with no negative effects  
• Automatic, detailed inventory management for carriers of special loads  
• In-time recognition or prevention of supply bottlenecks  
• Additional logistical information on contents, destination or even individual handling instructions can be recorded on RFID-Tags
