Food Safety Is a Top Priority
Food safety is the number one concern for U.S. food and beverage (F&B)
companies. In its annual manufacturing trends survey, Food Processing
Magazine reports that food safety has been the overwhelming priority. It
comes in ahead of concerns about labor, automation, plant security, logistics,
consolidation, and energy costs.
Food safety needs to be in the spotlight for both ethical and financial reasons.
An overt act of sabotage or terrorism can be catastrophic, but even the slightest
human error can put thousands of lives at risk. F&B companies have had to
spend tens of millions of dollars recovering from product safety and security
disasters — while suffering enormous market setbacks from losing the trust of
their customers.
