Dematic Pty Ltd – Modern Slavery Statement
Effective 1 January 2026
This Modern Slavery Statement is made on behalf of Dematic Pty Ltd (ACN 118 204 425), an Australian Private Company incorporated in Australia with its registered office at 24, Narabang way, Belrose, NSW 2085 in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth). It outlines the process taken during the reporting period to identify, assess, and address the risks of modern slavery in our business operations and supply chain, and our commitment to ethical business practices.
Introduction
Dematic recognises that modern slavery — including forced labour, child labour, servitude and human trafficking — is a serious global issue which infringes fundamental human rights. Modern slavery in any form is unacceptable and will not be tolerated within our operations or supply chains.
Dematic is committed to conducting its business ethically, transparently and responsibly, and to respecting and protecting the human rights of all people connected to our business, including employees, contractors, customers, agents or intermediaries, suppliers, and community members.
Organisational Structure, Our Business and Supply Chains
Dematic Pty Ltd is incorporated and operates in Australia and New Zealand and forms part of the global Dematic Group, a subsidiary of KION Group AG (KION). Dematic provides automated material handling systems, racking solutions, software, related products, and services to customers across a range of industries.
Dematic’s business primarily involves the design, supply, installation, and testing of materials handling systems and associated software. Aside from this, Dematic also provides support and maintenance for our installations (or installations of other suppliers), product only sales, and steel and rack and other product production in our factory located in Sydney, Australia.
Dematic’s workforce consists predominantly of directly employed personnel engaged under permanent employment arrangements.
[Employment conditions, remuneration and minimum entitlements are governed by the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth), including the National Employment Standards. Dematic reviews remuneration regularly to ensure employees meet or exceed minimum statutory entitlements. These controls significantly reduce the risk of forced labour, servitude, or other modern slavery practices within our Australian and New Zealand operations. When determining the remuneration of our employees, we analyse external market data in Australia and New Zealand, relevant to the specific role and the required qualification, knowledge, and skills. We provide to our employees (and their immediate family) access to counselling, coaching and support from qualified health professionals. This free and confidential service is available 24/7, with online tools and referral services included. We conduct employee surveys on an annual basis to provide valuable feedback on a diverse range of topics. We do not tolerate discrimination, sexual, or any other form of harassment, or inappropriate behaviour. We have comprehensive policies and procedures to manage this, including an online tool, “Speak Up” that allows employees to raise concerns anonymously.
Dematic’s supply chain comprises global manufacturing entities within the KION Group, together with a network of local and international third‑party suppliers, contractors and service providers. These parties provide a range of goods and services, including equipment, components, technology, installation of materials handling equipment, logistics, and professional services. While a significant proportion of procurement is conducted through KION Group companies, Dematic also engages external suppliers whose operations and supply chains may extend into jurisdictions with higher inherent modern slavery risks.
Dematic also engages third‑party intermediaries, including distributors, agents and resellers, under distribution or intermediary agreements. Dematic recognises that the use of third‑party intermediaries can present increased modern slavery risks, particularly where there is reduced visibility and control over employment practices beyond the first tier of the supply chain.
To address these risks, Dematic requires distributors and other third‑party intermediaries to comply with contractual obligations prohibiting modern slavery, forced labour, child labour, and human trafficking, consistent with Dematic and KION Group compliance standards.
Modern Slavery Risks
Dematic has assessed that the risk of modern slavery within its own operations is relatively low due to strong employment practices, compliance with Australian and New Zealand workplace laws, and a high proportion of permanent employment.
Potential risk areas within operations may arise where third-party contractors or manufacturers are engaged, particularly where Dematic has limited visibility over their employment practices and supply chains.
The greatest potential risk of modern slavery for Dematic is within global and domestic supply chains and third‑party intermediaries, including manufacturing, installation services, and suppliers operating in higher-risk regions or industries. Dematic recognises that modern slavery risks may exist beyond its immediate contractual relationships.
Actions Taken to Assess and Address Risks
Policies and Governance
Dematic operates within the KION Global Compliance Programme and adheres to KION’s Code of Compliance, human rights strategy and international minimum employment standards. These frameworks align with internationally recognised human rights standards, including the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and International Labour Organisation conventions.
Suppliers are required to comply with Dematic’s and KION’s principles of ethical conduct and contractual provisions prohibiting modern slavery, child labour, and human trafficking.
Supplier Due Diligence
Dematic undertakes risk-based due diligence on suppliers, including pre-engagement screening, contractual assurances, supplier questionnaires, and audits where appropriate. Supplier assessments consider geographic risk, industry risk, workforce practices, and supply chain transparency.
Higher-risk suppliers and regions are subject to enhanced scrutiny, including ethical and compliance audits, and ongoing monitoring. Identified issues are investigated and remediation actions required where necessary.
Training and Awareness
All Dematic employees receive compliance and ethics training, including awareness of modern slavery risks and responsibilities, which is conducted at least annually. Targeted training is provided to employees who may be more exposed to ethical considerations and are involved in procurement, project delivery, and supplier management.
Reporting and Grievance Mechanisms
Dematic, through the KION Compliance Programme, maintains confidential reporting and grievance and whistleblower mechanisms that allow employees, contractors, and third parties to raise concerns regarding unethical conduct or potential human rights violations without fear of reprisal.
These mechanisms operate alongside protections available under Australian law, and reports may be made anonymously without fear of retaliation. All reports are assessed and investigated in accordance with Dematic’s internal policies and applicable Australian legislative requirements.
Assessment of Effectiveness
Dematic assesses the effectiveness of its modern slavery actions through supplier engagement metrics, audit outcomes, training completion rates, internal reviews, and investigation of any reported concerns. To date, no confirmed instances of modern slavery have been identified within Dematic’s operations or supply chains.
Continuous Improvement
Dematic is committed to continuous improvement in addressing modern slavery risks. Planned initiatives include expanding supplier engagement, enhancing supply chain transparency, ongoing review of policies, and strengthening training programmes for employees and suppliers.
Approval
This statement has been prepared having regard to Dematic’s obligations under the Modern Slavery Act 2018 (Cth) and related Australian workplace and governance laws, and reflects Dematic’s commitment to meeting both its domestic legal obligations and global human rights standards.
