Heusenstamm, 15 August 2019 – Dematic has already received its second award this year for its Imagination Center. After the German Brand Award, the intralogistics specialist now has also won the Red Dot Award: Brands & Communication Design 2019. The jury of the international design competition was particularly impressed by the product presentations in the Imagination Center, which are unique in Germany. There, for example, customers can configure a customized storage system with 3D view Dematic solutions and virtually move through them. The intralogistics specialist prevailed over the competition in the category "Interface & User Experience Design" due to its creative and innovative communication design. The award ceremony will take place at the Red Dot Gala in the Konzerthaus Berlin on 1 November 2019. The exclusive ewerk in Berlin Mitte will also feature the winning projects for one night.
"In the Industry 4.0 era, when the complexity of automation systems is ever greater, it is becoming increasingly important to interactively involve the customer in the development process and to be able to illustrate possible solutions for his individual automation project at an early stage," says Jessica Heinz, Head of Marketing and Business Development for Dematic Central Europe. "We have been honored several times for this type of presentation, and we are very pleased with the success of our approach." Dematic displays state-of-the-art intralogistic automation technology on the Imagination Center's 2,600 square meter floor. In the showroom, customer-specific and fully automated storage solutions can be found visualized before even one screw is installed. In addition, visitors can immerse themselves in the past by gradually following the history of intralogistics in the "History Tunnel". Here, the company combines the achievements of the Industrial Revolution and logistics with its own developments and milestones during the company's 200-year history.
At the three theme islands - "SMART", "RAPID" and "FLEXIBLE" - customers learn more about Dematic technologies through animated films. The playfully depicted content serves as a stimulus for discussions about the development of individual intralogistics solutions. The requests and requirements generated during the tour flow into an initial storage configuration, which is visualized in 3D on a large screen. The Imagination Center concludes with a look into the Dematic Tech Center, where some of the previous technologies depicted virtually, such as the pouch sorting and multi-shuttle systems, can be seen live in real operation.
In its decision, the jury of the Red Dot Design Award, in particular, emphasized the dramaturgic structure of the Imagination Center: from a historical retrospect and virtual solutions to full-size products and systems. The award was established in 1993 as the "German Award for Communication Design." Since then, it has been awarded annually and honors companies that underpin their business activities with creative designs.
