The challenge: faster, more accurate and more flexible order fulfillment systems
Hbc offers the broadest assortment of goods and services in Canada. From Aquafresh to Armani, Hbc carries over 600,000 items from exclusive national, international and private label brand names. As business volumes grew, Hbc needed faster, more accurate and more flexible order fulfillment systems in place to ensure customer satisfaction. Hbc identified the need for mechanization early and partnered with Dematic to integrate order fulfillment systems to meet those goals.
The solution: an integrated material handling solution
Dematic developed four sites with fully integrated systems that include automated material handling processes such as an extensive conveyor network, cross docking, split and full case order fulfillment, put systems, e-commerce and high-rate sortation.
The technologies provided by Dematic consisted of an integrated system that provides just-in-time and accurate deliveries to Hbc stores across Canada. The mechanized regional facilities reflect significantly increased throughput and will help Hbc reach their growth targets.
