Automated laser guided trucks with a voice-based case pick technology

LaserTrucks+

LaserTrucks+ are a combination of automated laser guided trucks with a voice-based case pick technology. The pickers and vehicles are all controlled by a central Movement Control System, that co-ordinates the movements of the trucks and the pickers, and can give significantly enhanced pick rates over conventional driven vehicles. LaserTrucks+ also allow other functions to be automated, such as pallet destacking, empty pallet retrieval, automated stretch wrapping and marshalling.

Voice System

Voice System

The system generally incorporates a pick by voice system as the information technology solution to guide the pickers. The "hands-free, eyes-free" benefits of voice picking are enhanced in the Voice Pick Guided Vehicle solution, as the operator does not need to drive the trucks.

Functions such as empty pallet destacking and pallet stretchwrapping can be incorporated into the system. The photo shows a small conveyor loop with integrated stretchwrapper.

Movement Control System

Movement Control System

The heart of the system is the Movement Control System, part of the DC Director software suite. The system has the task of co-ordinating the orders received from the WMS, and then co-ordinating the work for the PGVs and the pickers together with the products slotted in the pick locations.
