The challenge

In a footwear and apparel industry that is experiencing only moderate growth, New Balance is the exception to the rule. With a growth rate of 30% per year, New Balance is being challenged by its customers to keep up with the pace of demand.

The solution

To meet the challenge, the company has built a new distribution center in Ontario, California. The West Coast DC bridges the gaps between the company’s Asian suppliers, its Lawrence, Massachusetts distribution center and its customers.  

The results are in

The New Balance facility is 500,000 sq. ft. and can carry 2/3 of the distribution work load, processing up to 35,000 pairs of shoes daily. This added capacity allows New Balance Retailers to restock within 24 hours . Order accuracy is confirmed by "On the fly" weighing, and value added service provides "store ready" products.
