East Coast Salon Services (EC) distributes over 7,000 different products to a customer base of more than 4,000 hair salons and beauty schools in the Northeast. Based in Runnemede, New Jersey, EC has a 48,000 square foot distribution center that’s consistently tasked to more efficiently and accurately fulfill orders.
EC identified the need for automation early and partnered with Dematic to integrate a PickDirector®, paperless, light-directed order fulfillment system to meet those goals.
The solution: adaptable order selection and fulfillment
Dematic installed a modular pick-to-light system where orders can be picked in clusters of four, or a batch where each zone picks one large order. This versatility accommodates the order mix EC receives from its variety of customers. For example, larger salons may order enormous amounts at once, while other independent cosmetologists may order a few items at a time.
