Campina is one of the biggest milk-processing companies in Germany. Dematic's RFID solution simplified their production process. Previously required labeling as well as multiple scans were eliminated. Significant user friendliness, distinguished by secure guidance via display indicators and intelligent sensor technology, guarantees a high level of acceptance among staff. The Sachsenmilch AG location just outside Dresden is one of the most modern milk processing plants in Europe. In addition to increasing capacity, the goal of the project was to improve delivery speed and to double picking and dispatch performance. This was achieved by optimizing the distances traveled in paperless order picking, using a highly dynamic buffer shelf for provision of the picked goods for a specific order at the right time, supplying of the goods on 66 gravity feed conveyors when needed by the unloading stations, and an innovative use of RFID technology.

Tnuva is a cooperative association for the processing and marketing of agricultural products in Israel. For hygienic reasons, washable plastic pallets are used for the entire material flow. Tnuva decided to introduce an identification system for the plastic pallets using RFID tags. The RFID tags identify the pallets at the reporting points reliably for many years. This avoids the need to stick on bar code labels, which are easily lost during cleaning.

To meet future requirements for growth and customer service an extensive logistic optimization became necessary for Beiersdorf‘s production and distribution warehouse in Hamburg. The challenge was to integrate the two warehouse areas, with their separate WM systems, into a new single IT solution based upon SAP LES (Logistics Execution System) in order to establish a situation in which the geographically separate warehouse areas could be connected via conveyors. Simultaneously a new central receiving area was created and an additional highbay warehouse was erected. A particular IT challenge was the connection of the existing controls to the MFC (Material Flow Controller) and the adjustments during operation.

In the Elancourt warehouse located near Paris the spare part warehouses of Still and Fenwick, both companies of Linde enterprise, had to be centralized. The warehouse consists of two areas which are connected via automated guided vehicles. In the manual high-bay warehouse heavy and bulky parts as well as small parts are stored, which can be shifted to the automated Miniload depending on inventory turnover. Transports in the HBW are handled via fork lift trucks, transports in the 6-aisle Miniload are handled via automatic stacker cranes and conveyors. A Put-to-Light installation is implemented for picking. Dematic constructed the mechanical and mechatronic assembly sections for Urban and furthermore an IT solution based on the Dematic Material Flow Computer and SAP LES.

From its central warehouse in Nuremberg Europe Chemi-Con supplies the European market with electronic components. The initially received shipping units are stored in containers and transferred from goods-in to a triple-deep automated miniload (AKL). For order fulfillment six pick stations are provided with Dematic IT WMS clients. The pick stations are supplied with the containers via fully automated material handling equipment. The Dematic IT system was connected to the customer’s goods management system via a transaction- safe interface. The warehouse with more than 40,000 different SKUs and an inventory of 70-90 million capacitors operates five days a week in two shifts.
