Efficient logistic processes during the storage and order-picking of fresh products reduce costs along the entire supply chain. Against this background, Dematic equipped Bina’s so-called ‘Convenience Gate’ to become a highly efficient production buffer warehouse with dynamic, consistently sequenced order-picking processes. The solution concept: optimized material flows with a new, refrigerated automated small-items warehouse, a modern high-performing order-picking system (Dematic Multishuttle) and a sophisticated IT concept. The result: one of the most innovative solutions for order-assembly with split-case picking in the foodstuffs sector in Europe.
The plant was already able to enter into service six months after the start of assembly. The triple-aisle, refrigerated miniload acts as a production buffer warehouse for incoming goods from production and external suppliers. The incoming goods are depalleted, individualized and conveyed via an ascending conveyor to the conveyor line running to the miniload. In contrast, the six-aisle Dematic Multishuttle unit is used as a buffer for order-picking and goods outwards.
