Intelligent logistics solution for the Gebrüder Weiss freight company in Austria

A Dematic electric suspension monorail (ESM) handles automatic pallet transport in the recently opened freight terminal of Gebr. Weiss GmbH in Maria Lanzendorf near Vienna. Integrated into the structure and workflow of the new terminal, the monorail forms the technical heart of the facility, connecting the transfer and cross-docking areas, small parts and block warehouses, and a high-bay warehouse with 34,000 pallet positions.

Installed 3.5m above floor level, this 800-meter-long conveyor transports goods quickly and safely on pallets. The overhead design means regular terminal operations can carry on unhindered below. Operations started with 35 ESM cars in order to meet the requirement of sending 350 pallets per hour along the suspended monorail.

This is the first electric suspension monorail to be used in this industrial sector in Europe.
