Diverts and Merges -

Horizontal and Vertical Changes of Direction

The choice of distribution technology is determined by the required transport speed and the weight of the objects being moved. These factors naturally determine where things go from there.

Vertical distributors handle the task of distributing from one feeder section to two stacked discharge sections (divert operation) or from stacked feeder sections to one discharge section (merge operation).

Horizontal roller distributors can be used in belt or roller conveyor sections for horizontal distribution and/or merging two feeder or discharge sections. Various swing-arm diverter models are also supplied for this purpose. For example, the new High-Performance Horizontal Diverter (HPHD) consists of two driven belt arms that are synchronously controlled. They route a parcel straight through when open and divert it when closed.

Diverters have the task of transferring parcels or suitcases on to other conveyor tracks at an angle of 45°. The HPHD can achieve up to 60 cycles per minute and is suitable for parcels weighing up to 60 kg. It does not require any substructure as it can be installed on an existing conveyor.
